Why Daily Sadhana Matters

In the yogic tradition, sadhana refers to daily spiritual practice — a dedicated discipline that connects us with our highest self. Just as the body needs daily nourishment, the soul needs the nourishment of regular spiritual practice.

The Ideal Sadhana Routine

GuruMaee Maa Rudratmika recommends the following daily routine for Kriyayog practitioners:

Morning Practice (Brahma Muhurta - 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM)

  • Wake up before sunrise (ideally at 4 AM)
  • Fresh bath or at minimum wash face and hands
  • Sit in a clean, quiet place facing East or North
  • Begin with Guru Vandana (salutation to the Guru lineage)
  • Practice Kriya Pranayama as taught during Diksha
  • Meditation (Dhyan) for 20-30 minutes minimum
  • Conclude with prayer and gratitude

Evening Practice

  • Short practice of 15-20 minutes before sunset
  • Focus on meditation and inner stillness
  • Review the day with awareness and gratitude

Benefits You Will Experience

Regular practitioners report these transformations within the first few months:

  1. Greater mental clarity and focus
  2. Reduced stress and emotional reactivity
  3. Improved sleep quality
  4. Enhanced intuition and inner guidance
  5. Deep sense of peace and contentment
  6. Better relationships with family and community
  7. Heightened spiritual experiences during meditation

Overcoming Obstacles in Practice

The most common challenge is maintaining consistency. Here are practical tips from experienced practitioners:

  • Set a fixed time each day — consistency builds habit
  • Start with shorter sessions and gradually increase
  • Create a dedicated meditation space at home
  • Connect with the sangha (spiritual community) regularly
  • Attend ashram programs and satsangs for renewed inspiration

Remember, even 15 minutes of sincere daily practice is more valuable than occasional long sessions. The key is regularity and devotion.
