The Seven Chakras

In the yogic tradition, chakras are energy centers along the spine that serve as gateways between the physical body and the subtle energy body. Understanding the chakra system is essential for any Kriyayog practitioner.

1. Muladhara (Root Chakra)

Location: Base of the spine
Element: Earth
Significance: Foundation of the energy system. This is where the Kundalini energy lies dormant. When activated through Kriya practice, the energy begins its upward journey through the spine.

2. Swadhisthana (Sacral Chakra)

Location: Below the navel
Element: Water
Significance: Center of creativity and emotional balance. Purification of this chakra brings emotional stability and creative energy.

3. Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra)

Location: Navel region
Element: Fire
Significance: Center of personal power and will. Activation brings confidence, inner strength and digestive fire.

4. Anahata (Heart Chakra)

Location: Heart center
Element: Air
Significance: Center of unconditional love and compassion. Opening of the heart chakra is a major milestone in spiritual practice.

5. Vishuddha (Throat Chakra)

Location: Throat
Element: Ether/Space
Significance: Center of communication and self-expression. Purification brings truthful speech and creative expression.

6. Ajna (Third Eye Chakra)

Location: Between the eyebrows
Element: Light
Significance: Center of intuition and higher wisdom. This is the command center for spiritual perception and inner vision.

7. Sahasrara (Crown Chakra)

Location: Top of the head
Element: Consciousness
Significance: The thousand-petaled lotus. When Kundalini reaches here, the practitioner experiences Samadhi — union with the Divine.

Chakras in Kriyayog Practice

In Kundalini Kriyayog, specific techniques are used to purify and activate each chakra systematically. The Guru initiates this process during Diksha, and through regular practice, the energy centers are gradually opened and balanced.

Note: Chakra activation should only be attempted under the guidance of a qualified Guru. Improper practices can cause imbalance.
